at Ranua
3 nights at Ranua Wildlife Park for families
Operator's View
"What a fantastic way to spend the weekend – it’s not often you and the kids can say that you rounded off the week learning about all kinds of Arctic animals, zooming around a Narnia-like landscape on snowmobiles, and bonding with huskies during a session of dogsledding. On top of that, Ranua has a wonderful family environment, with its lovely apartment set-up, so you will feel right at home." Amy Walkington-Gray

3 nights / 4 days itinerary
Day 1
Arrival & Welcome
Reaching Rovaniemi airport by a direct flight, you will be collected and transferred to the Gulo Gulo Holiday Village, which sits next to the famous Ranua Wildlife Park.
Check into your homely apartment and receive your park tickets, which grant you entry for the duration of your stay. After lunch, you might like to let off some energy in the Gulo Gulo playground – better still, during the winter months, you can have fun in a special playground built of ice and snow!
Dinner will be served in the on-site restaurant, and you can get well-rested before the excitement of the weekend.
Day 2 & 3
Wildlife Park Guided Tour & Snowmobile Safari
Following breakfast, you and the children will be taken on a fascinating tour of the Ranua Wildlife Park. With an expert to show you around, you can learn all there is to know about the Arctic animals that live here.
There are around 50 different species that can be seen, including polar bears, Arctic foxes, wolves, and otters. The enclosures have been built to closely resemble natural habitats, ensuring that the animals feel very much at home. As your ticket allows you unlimited entry to the park for the length of your stay, you can keep coming back to visit your favourites!
Lunch will be at the on-site restaurant. You will then head out for a spectacular snowmobile safari, exploring the surrounding area on a one-hour route. Before setting off two people per vehicle, you will be given a full briefing on how to safely drive the snowmobile. Anyone wishing to drive must be at least 18 years of age and in possession of a full driving licence. Children will have a wonderful time, either zipping along in a sled pulled by the guide’s snowmobile, or sitting on the back of a snowmobile driven by an adult.
Returning to Gulo Gulo, you can have dinner in the restaurant before turning in for the night.
Day 3
Husky Safari
After breakfast, it will be time to try a husky safari, which is definitely one of the most loved activities. Children will immediately warm to the lively huskies, who excitedly greet visitors of all ages. You will learn how to manage a dogsled before zooming away behind your guide’s sled, travelling two adults and one child per sled, with adults swapping the roles of driver and passenger. Your journey will take you through magnificent white spaces and over the tops of frozen lakes. The total route will be five kilometres long, lasting around half an hour in total.
Lunch will be had back at the restaurant. You will then have the afternoon free to enjoy Ranua at your own pace. Why not make the most of your unlimited entry tickets and return to the Wildlife Park? You might just like to let off some energy in the playground before dinner in the restaurant.
Day 4
Departure
With breakfast done, you will be transferred to the airport for your direct flight back home. You will have had a superb weekend – wave farewell to Ranua and its friendly animals, who will be awaiting your return.
